Tottenham Hotspur FC have reached an agreement to sign Germany Under-21 captain Lewis Holtby from FC Schalke 04 this summer subject to a medical.
Holtby, 22, has scored nine goals in 53 Bundesliga games for Schalke and was a key figure in the side which qualified for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 as Group B winners ahead of Tottenham's north London rivals Arsenal FC.
Holtby represented Germany U21s on 20 occasions, scoring 12 goals and also made three senior international appearances. The former TSV Alemannia Aachen player will remain at the Gelsenkirchen club for the rest of the current campaign before joining André Villas-Boas's side in July.
Schalke face Galatasaray AŞ in the UEFA Champions League last 16 while Spurs take on Olympique Lyonnais in the UEFA Europa League round of 32.
