Roles were reversed post-match at the Stade de Suisse as victorious BSC Young Boys reflected on missed UEFA Europa League opportunities and FC Anji Makhachkala looked to learn from their away defeat ahead of the knockout phase. Moreno Constanzo consoled himself with the need to "enjoy every victory" after restoring the lead in a 3-1 success for the hosts, while Vladimir Gabulov relayed his disappointment at Anji being edged out by Liverpool FC for top spot in Group A.

Moreno Costanzo, Young Boys midfielder
As a team, we basically have to enjoy each victory and we have responded well to previous disappointments. This victory has a bitter taste, though, because we collected ten points and failed to qualify; we wanted to fight hard and work until the winter break to make it, so everybody is disappointed. But I believe that we represented Switzerland very well during the group stage.

Marco Wölfli, Young Boys goalkeeper
I'm very proud of the team because it is not every day that you can beat an elite Russian side. Also, we must not forget that we have gone four matches unbeaten in the Europa League and, in doing so, have collected ten points during that time. From these performances, we must do our utmost to qualify again for this competition and, even though we have ground to make up in the league, we must play like we did today to achieve it.

Vladimir Gabulov, Anji goalkeeper
We prepared for the match very seriously because we wanted to earn the better draw, but I think we lacked some moments of concentration against opponents who were well-organised and performed quite well. That was all clear in the first match against them and I thought we could work on stabilising defence here in the second half and work on strong counterattacks, but it didn't materialise.
