Bulgaria goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov will sit out the remainder of FC Twente's UEFA Europa League Group L campaign after sustaining a knee injury on international duty.
The 24-year-old, who was voted Bulgarian player of the year in 2011, broke down in training ahead of his national team's friendly match against Ukraine tonight. Mihaylov will undergo surgery later this week in Barcelona and is expected to return to action in January.
Steve McClaren's Twente side are third in Group L and trail second-placed Levante UD by four points. Their quest to overhaul that deficit begins with a trip to Hannover 96 – who have already qualified from the section – next Thursday.
