Liverpool FC have completed the signing of Welsh international midfielder Joe Allen on a "long-term contract" from Swansea City AFC.

The Reds have not disclosed the fee they will pay for the 22-year-old, although reports in the English press have suggested it could be as much as €19.1m. Allen is reunited with Brendan Rodgers, the manager he impressed under last season as Swansea finished 11th in their first Premier League campaign.

He becomes Liverpool's second summer signing after Fabio Borini arrived last month from AS Roma. Allen, who made 127 league appearances for the Welsh club after joining as an apprentice in 2007, has played eight times for his country and featured for Great Britain at the 2012 Olympic Games.

"The passion that people here have for football is something I share and I want to be part of that," Allen told the Liverpool website. "I'm looking forward to being part of some great years ahead for Liverpool Football Club."

The Anfield side were paired with Heart of Midlothian FC in Friday's UEFA Europa League play-off draw. The fixture will be played over two legs on 23 and 30 August.
