UEFA Europa League play-off hopefuls Sporting Clube de Portugal have signed Argentina defender Marcos Rojo from FC Spartak Moskva for an undisclosed fee, with the left-back-cum-centre-back agreeing a four-year contract.
The 22-year-old spend just one season at Spartak, having joined from Club Estudiantes de La Plata, and will now team up with two compatriots in Lisbon, Fito Rinaudo and Emiliano Ínsua. "Sporting treated me well and they made me feel that they needed me," said the nine-times capped Rojo, who played in just eight league games for last season's Russian runners-up. "I want to grab a place in the team and try to win titles to give these wonderful supporters something to cheer."
