Olympique de Marseille have named Elie Baup as their new coach following the departure of Didier Deschamps from the nine-time French champions on Monday.
Baup, 57, has signed a deal that will tie him to last season's UEFA Champions League quarter-finalists until 2014 and will be officially presented on Thursday afternoon.
A Ligue 1 winner with FC Girondins de Bordeaux in 1999, Baup also took Toulouse FC to the qualifying stages of the UEFA Champions League after steering them to a third-place finish in France's top flight. Baup has also had two spells in charge of AS Saint-Étienne, but this is his first coaching role since his depature from FC Nantes, with whom he was relegated in Ligue 2 in 2009.
OM's success in the League Cup last season has ensured European football for the club this term, and Baup's first challenge will be to negotiate the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round. The draw will take place on 20 July in Nyon, with the matches due to take place on 2 and 9 August.
