Adrián López, Falcao and substitute Eduardo Salvio were on target as Club Atlético de Madrid eased past Beşiktaş JK and into the last eight of the UEFA Europa League.

Trailing 3-1 from the first leg, the hosts were roared on at a sold-out BJK Inönü Staduyum by a typically boisterous crowd. Enthusiasm was dampened by Adrián's 26th-minute opener, and it was a blow from which the Black Eagles never recovered. Falcao, with his sixth in this season's competition, and Salvio struck in the closing stages for the dominant visitors.

Five minutes into an unusually cold March evening in Istanbul, Simão, a scorer against his former club in the first leg, tested Thibaut Courtois from Hugo Almeida's chested lay-off; it proved a rare sight of goal for the Turkish side. With both teams trying to win the midfield battle, chances remained few and far between as a whole until the Rojiblancos opened the scoring with a cleverly-crafted team move.

A clever chip from Juanfran into the path of Arda Turan resulted in the former Galatasaray AŞ midfielder teeing up Adrián, who scored his second of the tie via the legs of goalkeeper Cenk Gönen.

All but out of contention, Beşiktaş were having a hard time creating opportunities against a well organised and composed Atlético side, who cannot have expected the second half to be as straightforward as it was. On the rare occasions the hosts did work themselves into a promising position they were let down by a lack of creativity – their opponents had no such trouble.

Arda, thwarted at the near post by Cenk, was denied a goal on his first playing return to Turkey, before Adrián glanced wide Filipe Luis's left-wing cross and then tested the goalkeeper low down to his right.

Falcao gave the scoreline a more polished look with seven minutes left when he outjumped the goalkeeper after Egemen Korkmaz had deflected a cross high into the night sky. Scorer then turned provider as Salvio, running on to the Colombian international's through ball, held off Egemen and clinically beat Cenk.
