Valencia CF midfielder Éver Banega will miss the rest of the season after breaking his leg in a car accident while recovering from a knee injury.
Having stopped to refuel after returning from an individual training session, the Argentinian reportedly forgot to apply his handbrake and broke his fibula and tibula after his left leg got trapped between the rolling car's wheel and the kerb. The 23-year-old, who was signed from CA Boca Juniors four years ago, will undergo surgery today and is expected to be out of action for as long as six months.
Having been eliminated from the group stage of this season's UEFA Champions League, Unai Emery's side began their UEFA Europa League challenge with a 1-0 round of 32 first-leg triumph at Stoke City FC last week. The teams reconvene at Mestalla on Thursday.
