FC Metalist Kharkiv have added attacking midfielder Marlos to their substantial Brazilian contingent, with the 23-year-old joining the Ukrainian Premier League challengers from São Paulo FC on a five-year contract.
"I had many offers from Brazil and other countries but I chose Metalist," said Marlos. "I'm sure I have made the right decision. I played against my new team-mates Taison and Cleiton Xavier at São Paulo. I prefer to play on the right but I am willing to help out in any position." The one-time Coritiba FC player scored nine goals in 85 league games for São Paulo, whose sporting director Adalberto Baptista said: "He always showed a good attitude and a professional approach. I think he can carve out a niche for himself in European football."
Myron Markevich's Metalist face FC Salzburg in the UEFA Europa League round of 32, visiting Austria for the first leg on 16 February with the tie concluding in Ukraine a week later.
