Celtic FC midfielder Scott Brown is likely to miss the rest of the UEFA Europa League group stage with an ankle injury.
Skipper Brown, out of action since coming off injured in the second half of the 4-2 Scottish Premier League defeat by Rangers FC on 18 September, must undergo surgery and is expected to be sidelined for a further eight to ten weeks.
The 26-year-old Scottish international initially picked up the knock to his right ankle in the 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying on 3 September. He had already been ruled out of his country's final two Group I games, against Liechtenstein and Spain this week.
