Proto hails Anderlecht's successful Moscow mission

"We had two good chances and scored two goals," was how impressive RSC Anderlecht goalkeeper Silvio Proto summed up the 2-0 win at a shell-shocked FC Lokomotiv Moskva.

Goalkeeper Silvio Proto put in a superb performance to help RSC Anderlecht defeat FC Lokomotiv Moskva, the team he sees as the best in UEFA Europa League Group L. Lokomotiv's Victor Obinna cursed their luck, but remains hopeful with his side still in second place.

Silvio Proto, Anderlecht goalkeeper
We had two good chances and scored two goals – in football it's only the goals that count. We were very good defensively and our strikers made the difference. After the second goal we knew we were going to win. I think we won against the best team in our group. Lokomotiv are a very good team with very good individual players. The most dangerous player was [Dmitri Sychev], and one time I had to make a fingertip save to deny him.

Roland Juhász, Anderlecht defender

We had problems for the first 15 minutes of the second half and this time proved to be the key to the match. All matches are different. Today the pitch was not the best and it was difficult to play our passing style. We always try to play attractive football, but today we have shown our other side, that we can fight too.

Giullaume Gillet, Anderlecht midfielder
We had to be well organised here in Moscow because Lokomotiv are a very attack-minded team. We tried first of all to defend and then to counterattack, which we did very successfully. We also tried to play down the wings; it's a tactic we like, especially with a striker like [opening scorer Matías] Suárez up front.

The Europa League is a fantastic opportunity for players and we want to go as far as possible. We might look like group favourites with six points from two matches, but football is a game where you should never be sure of the result before the match.

Victor Obinna, Lokomotiv Moskva forward
We expected to win, since we wanted to top the group. Unfortunately, we lost because of bad luck. I think we played very well today, better than Anderlecht, but in football sometimes you play well and you lose. There was nothing which we failed to do. We created a lot of chances and played exactly how the coach told us to, and he was very happy with the way the team played and how we tried to get back into the game. This loss won't change our mentality or damage our confidence. We just have to move forward and think about our next game.
