SC Braga take on Club Brugge KV in UEFA Europa League Group H with the Belgian side's record against Portuguese teams suggesting a high-scoring encounter.

Previous meetings
• The sides are meeting for the first time in UEFA competition.

• In Braga's only previous experience of Belgian opponents, they overcame R. Standard de Liège in the 2008/09 UEFA Cup round of 32, winning 3-0 at home then drawing 1-1 in Belgium. They were eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain FC in the next round.

• Club Brugge's four games against Portuguese sides featured 19 goals and ended W2 D0 L2 (W2 D0 L0 at home). They have scored three times in each of their last three games against Portuguese sides, recording 3-2 and 3-1 home wins either side of a 4-3 loss at FC Porto.

Match background
• Braga's 3-1 win at Birmingham City FC on matchday one matched their best ever margin of victory on the road in UEFA competition; they set that mark by beating FC Artmedia Petržalka 2-0 in the UEFA Cup in 2008.

• Braga are unbeaten in seven home games since a 3-0 UEFA Champions League loss to FC Shakhtar Donetsk (five wins, two draws and most remarkably, no goals conceded), which occurred on 28 September 2010.

• Club Brugge are without a win in their last five European away games (three losses and two draws).

• Club Brugge have only won once in 12 UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League group stage away games, with the overall record W1 D7 L4. That sole victory was a 4-2 win at FK Partizan on 5 November 2009.

Team facts
• SC Braga's Hélder Barbosa was one of three players to score twice on matchday one along with Beşiktaş JK's Hugo Almeida and FC Vaslui's Wesley. RSC Anderlecht's Matías Suarez was the only player to outscore them, hitting a hat-trick.

• Braga were caught offside ten times on matchday one; more than any other side in the group stage.

• Braga's Hugo Viana faced Club Brugge with Valencia CF on 4 December 2008 in a UEFA Cup game, which ended 1-1 at Mestalla.

• Braga's Nuno Gomes met Belgian opponents with SL Benfica in the UEFA Cup, with his side winning 1-0 at home against RAA Lovièroise on 15 October 2003.

• Leonardo Jardim is in charge at Braga having replaced Sporting Clube de Portugal-bound Domingos Paciência in the summer. The Venezuelan-born boss was in charge at AD Camacha, GD Chaves and SC Beira-Mar before becoming Braga coach.

• Club Brugge's Dutch boss Adrie Koster played for Roda JC and PSV Eindhoven before moving into coaching. He led AFC Ajax for a while after a spell running their youth team and took over as boss at the Jan Breydelstadion in 2009.
