Forward Michael Hubník will be unavailable for the entirety of Legia Warszawa's UEFA Europa League group stage campaign after suffering an Achilles tendon injury.
The 28-year-old, who arrived at the club from SK Sigma Olomouc in January, appeared as a substitute in both of his side's UEFA Europa League third qualifying round matches against Gaziantepspor, which the Polish club won 1-0 on aggregate. Although he had seen just ten minutes of league action so far this season, coach Maciej Skorża had been impressed with his progress before he sustained the long-term injury.
"At the beginning of the week I saw him in the training and was very happy with his performance," Skorża said of the striker, who has scored twice in 12 league appearances for the Warsaw outfit and been capped three times by the Czech Republic. "Unfortunately, he then got injured and has had to undergo surgery. He will not be able to play until the end of the year."
Legia face PSV Eindhoven in their opening UEFA Europa League Group C match on 15 September, with Hapoel Tel-Aviv FC and FC Rapid Bucureşti their other opponents in the section.
