Club Atlético de Madrid have signed Turkish international Arda Turan from Galatasaray AŞ for a fee that could rise to €13m.
The midfielder, 24, has committed to the Spanish side until summer 2015 after passing a medical on Friday, ending a seven-year association with his home-town club. Arda, a member of the Turkey squad that reached the UEFA EURO 2008 semi-finals, scored 28 goals in 127 top-flight appearances for Galatasaray.
"Atlético are a big team and I'm happy to know that I'm part of their side now," said Arda, whose Rojiblancos debut is likely to be delayed by a right thigh injury sustained on international duty against Estonia this week.
Winners in 2010, Atlético face Vitória SC in the UEFA Europa League play-offs on 18 and 25 August, with the second leg in Portugal. They begin their Liga campaign away to Real Sociedad de Fútbol next Sunday.
