United States striker Jozy Altidore has signed a four-year deal with UEFA Europa League contenders AZ Alkmaar.
Altidore moves to the Dutch Eredivisie for an undisclosed fee following three seasons on the books of Villarreal CF. He made just nine Spanish Liga appearances for the Yellow Submarine, however, having spent time on loan at Xerez CD, Hull City AFC and Bursaspor.
"I am delighted the deal is all complete now," said the 21-year-old, who has 39 caps for his country. "This is an exciting time. I have found a home having been loaned to several clubs in Europe. I hope for a fair chance and want to make the next step in my career with AZ."
Altidore's new employers begin their UEFA Europa League campaign in the third qualifying round against KS Flamurtari or FK Jablonec, with the first leg taking place in Alkmaar on 28 July.
