Tottenham Hotspur FC have made Cristian Ceballos from FC Barcelona their second signing of the summer.

The 18-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or a forward, has joined Harry Redknapp's side after parting company with the European champions following seven years at the Catalan club. He follows former Aston Villa FC goalkeeper Brad Friedel to White Hart Lane.

"Cristian trained hard and showed some real quality when he originally spent time here towards the end of last season and was even involved in first-team training," said Tottenham's technical coordinator Tim Sherwood. "There was other interest in him too. He needs to be patient and if he can fulfil his potential we believe he can play at the top level."

Tottenham will enter the UEFA Europa League play-offs after finishing last season in fifth place in England's Premier League.
