Sporting Clube de Portugal have made Bulgarian international Valeri Bojinov their 11th signing of the summer.
The 25-year-old striker signed a five-year contract after a €2.6m fee, rising to a potential €3.5m, was agreed with Parma FC. In return the Italian side have taken Sporting's 30-year-old Chilean midfielder Jaime Valdés on loan for the season with an option to make the deal permanent.
Former US Lecce, ACF Fiorentina and Manchester City FC forward Bojinov played 61 Serie A matches and scored 11 goals for Parma before sealing his move to Lisbon.
Bojinov, who has featured 32 times for his country, will join André Carrillo, Alberto Rodríguez, Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Oguchi Onyewu, Stijn Schaars, Santiago Árias, Marcelo Boeck, Fabián Rinaudo, Luis Aguiar and Diego Rubio at Sporting. The Lions enter the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League in the play-off round having finished third in the Portuguese Liga last term.
