Midfielder Gabi has rejoined UEFA Europa League contenders Club Atlético de Madrid from Real Zaragoza for a fee reportedly in the region of €3m.
Gabi returns to Atlético, where he came through the ranks to make 58 Liga appearances, on a four-year contract after four seasons with Zaragoza. "I have had some great times away from here but I always wanted to come back," said the former Spanish Under-21 international. "We will have to work very hard this season to finish in the top four. That's what the club and the fans deserve."
The 27-year-old left the Vicente Calderón in 2007 for Zaragoza, where he played 135 league games and scored 16 goals. Atlético will enter the UEFA Europa League in the third qualifying round having finished seventh in the Liga last term.
