Sevilla FC have appointed former Real Racing Club coach Marcelino García Toral to succeed Gregorio Manzano at the Andalusian side.
Marcelino, 45, steered Racing to safety last season having taken over for the second time in February. He has signed a 12-month deal with the option for a further two years and replaces Manzano, who left the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán last month when the Sevilla board opted against renewing his contract.
Marcelino, formerly in charge of Real Sporting de Gijón, RC Recreativo de Huelva and Real Zaragoza, said: "We have a duty to fight for Champions League qualification and to get third place in the Liga. We have a real chance to do it and we are optimistic."
Sevilla, who have already recruited Jorge Andújar 'Coke', Martín Cáceres, Piotr Trochowski and Manu this summer, will start their 2011/12 UEFA Europa League campaign in the play-off round following a fifth-place Liga finish.
