Sevilla FC have announced that Gregorio Manzano will not be in charge of the two-time UEFA Cup winners next season.
The 55-year-old − who succeeded Antonio Álvarez at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuan last September − led the Andalusian side to a fifth-place finish in the Liga and with it a berth in the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League. However, following a meeting with club representatives he was told his services were no longer required.
"I had lunch with the president and the sporting director during which they let me know my contract was not going to be renewed," the former RCD Mallorca and Club Atlético de Madrid coach explained.
"I would like to say that it has been an honour to have had the opportunity to work here and I thank the entire squad as well as the technical staff; we have already said our goodbyes to each other. I arrived here without creating a lot of fuss and I would like to leave in a same manner."
