SL Benfica defender Sidnei has signed a contract extension that commits the 21-year-old to the Estádio da Luz club until June 2016.
The former SC Internacional player was second choice behind fellow Brazilian David Luiz until the latter's winter move to Chelsea FC, yet has now stepped into the breach to form a resilient centre-half partnership with Luisão.
Sidnei has made four UEFA Europa League appearances this season in addition to ten outings in the Portuguese Liga for second-placed Benfica. The Lisbon outfit will face PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals, hosting the first leg on 7 April with the return seven days later.
