Cani has become the latest Villarreal CF player to extend his contract with the Spanish Liga club, the midfielder having committed his future to the Yellow Submarine until June 2014.
The 29-year-old former Real Zaragoza player's previous deal had been due to expire at the end of the campaign, but, just as Giuseppe Rossi and Joan Capdevila had done before him, he signed new terms that keep him at El Madrigal for the next three seasons.
A scorer of 15 goals from 143 top-flight appearances in four and a half seasons at Villarreal, the versatile midfielder was ever-present as Juan Carlos Garrido's team topped UEFA Europa League Group D. SSC Napoli await them in the round of 32, the first leg of which takes place on 17 February in Naples.
