FC Dynamo Kyiv were in control from start to finish to complete a comprehensive UEFA Europa League round of 32 success against Beşiktaş JK.
The Black Eagles failed to learn their lesson from last week, when they suffered a 4-1 home defeat. Their defence once more struggled to cope in a bitterly cold Kyiv, Ognjen Vukojević setting the tone with a third-minute opener for the hosts. Not until ten minutes into the second half did Dynamo add to their tally, through Andriy Yarmolenko, but Oleh Gusev and Andriy Shevchenko added further gloss before the night was out. Manchester City FC await in the last 16.
If Beşiktaş faced an uphill struggle before the game, their task was mountainous soon after kick-off, Vukojević finishing first time after Gusev helped fashion a chance. The visitors left themselves stretched in their search for a swift equaliser, Gusev and Shevchenko missing opportunities on the counterattack.
Guti showed a composure lacking among some of his Beşiktaş team-mates, and it was his brilliant pass which caught Dynamo's centre-backs square, only for Bobô to chip over. The former Real Madrid CF midfielder was again the architect soon after half-time, but Matteo Ferrari shot directly at Olexandr Shovkovskiy from the edge of the penalty area.
Dynamo responded with another rapid break, Artem Milevskiy delivering for Yarmolenko, who raced clear and rounded Rüştü Reçber to poke into the empty net. It was 3-0 to Yuri Semin's side ten minutes later, Gusev applying the finishing touch to a fine move. The hosts were now into their stride, Danilo Silva going close before Shevchenko further salted Beşiktaş's wounds with a fine finish.
