UEFA Europa League challengers Sevilla FC have received a boost ahead of their round of 32 meeting with FC Porto next month with news that midfielder Jesús Navas has signed a three-year contract extension.
The deal ties the 25-year-old winger to the Liga side until June 2015. "It was always my intention to continue at the club that has given me everything. I've matured a lot in many aspects over the years and I'm extremely happy here," said Navas, who was part of Spain's 2010 FIFA World Cup-winning squad.
A product of Sevilla's academy, the wide man has racked up 17 goals in 201 Liga appearances since making his debut in November 2003. Navas also featured in the Andalusians' back-to-back UEFA Cup triumphs in 2006 and 2007, and boasts UEFA Super Cup, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup winners' medals.
Gregorio Manzano's side welcome Porto to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium on 17 February with the return leg taking place six days later.
