Top spot the target as CSKA host Lausanne

The fate of both PFC CSKA Moskva and FC Lausanne-Sport has already been decided in Group F, but the hosts still have incentive as the visitors return to the scene of a recent famous triumph.

• CSKA have already qualified, while Lausanne cannot avoid elimination. A win would guarantee CSKA top spot in Group F.

Previous meetings
• Vágner Love struck twice either side of a Sergei Ignashevich header as CSKA won 3-0 in Lausanne when the sides met on Matchday 1. The Army Men's first game against a Swiss side, it produced their biggest ever away win in Europe, though they matched it at US Città di Palermo on Matchday 3.

• Despite that loss, Lausanne still possess a decent record in their five games against Russian teams: W2 D2 L1 (W1 D1 L0 in Russia). They ousted FC Torpedo Moskva from the first round of the 2000/01 UEFA Cup, and this season the second-tier Swiss club eliminated FC Lokomotiv Moskva from the UEFA Europa League play-offs, prevailing 4-3 on penalties in Moscow following two 1-1 draws.

• CSKA have won all six of their European fixtures this season, home and away, conceding just twice and averaging three goals per match.

• The last time they appeared in the group stage of this competition, in 2008/09, CSKA won all their fixtures, again averaging three goals a game. However, there were just four group stage matches two seasons ago, compared to six now.

• CSKA's three home outings in Europe this season have all ended in victories, with ten goals struck and just one conceded.

• Lausanne have not triumphed over 90 minutes in their last seven European encounters, having recorded four draws and three defeats. They have won only one of their last seven fixtures away from home in continental competition.

• CSKA are the competition's joint second highest scorers with a tally of 12 goals, ten of which have come in the second half.

• CSKA coach Leonid Slutski's playing career was ended at the age of 19 by a knee injury sustained when the young goalkeeper fell from a tree trying to rescue a neighbour's cat. Having gained experience in youth coaching, he worked wonders in a three-year spell at FC Moskva before leading FC Krylya Sovetov Samara to a sixth-placed finish in 2008, and he took over at CSKA the following October.

• Lausanne coach Martin Rueda won five caps for Switzerland as a defender, representing Grasshopper-Club, FC Wettingen 93, FC Luzern and Neuchâtel Xamax FC in UEFA club competition. Born to Spanish parents, Rueda led his side into Europe after losing the Swiss Cup final to league champions FC Basel 1893.
