Sevilla FC will be without Spain winger Jesús Navas for their UEFA Europa League Group J encounter at home to FC Karpaty Lviv on Thursday because he requires surgery on a left ankle injury.
The 24-year-old FIFA World Cup winner was originally sidelined with the problem after his team's home defeat by Paris Saint-Germain FC on 16 September. He again felt soreness in the joint on his comeback appearance in the 1-0 victory at Borussia Dortmund a fortnight later and his recovery suffered a further setback when he turned on the same ankle in training yesterday. Club medics expect the operation to be performed on Thursday.
Navas has been limited to only two Spanish Liga outings this season. Sevilla midfielder Tiberio Guarente is also likely to miss the Karpaty game as he continues to undergo tests on a right knee injury. The Andalusian side are one point behind group leaders PSG going into Thursday's match.
