RSC Anderlecht will have to complete their UEFA Europa League group stage campaign without captain Olivier Deschacht who picked up an ankle ligament injury on Sunday.
Deschacht, 29, was forced off on a stretcher with 16 minutes left of the 2-0 Belgian First League win against KVC Westerlo. A scan on Monday revealed that the defender has damaged cartilage and ligaments and will be out of action for "several months".
The Belgian international had started all three of Anderlecht's Group G games, including last week's 3-0 victory over AEK Athens FC which got Ariël Jacobs' team off the mark. The left-sided player will now sit out the remainder of their attempt to reach the round of 32, which continues at HNK Hajduk Split next Thursday.
