Occupying the bottom two slots in Group A, FC Salzburg and Juventus will look to secure their first victory of this UEFA Europa League campaign when they face each other in Austria.

Previous meetings
• The sides are meeting for the first time in UEFA club competition.

• Salzburg's record in ten games against Italian opposition reads W3 D0 L7 (W1 D0 L4 in Austria). Four of those five home fixtures took place outside Salzburg – two in Vienna, two in Linz. The exception was a 2-1 win against S.S. Lazio in last season's UEFA Europa League group stage.

• Juventus' record in 14 games against Austrian sides reads W12 D1 L1 (W5 D1 L1 away). However, the sole loss remains their heaviest ever European defeat, going down 7-0 at Wiener SC in the 1958/59 European Champion Clubs' Cup preliminary round on 1 October 1958.

Match background
• Salzburg are four games without a win in Europe – they have not scored in their last two.

• Juventus have not lost in six European games this season, but draws in their opening Group A fixtures ended a four-match winning streak. They have lost only one of their last five away games, going down 4-1 at Fulham FC in last season's UEFA Europa League round of 16.

Team facts
• Juventus have played more games in UEFA club competition than any other side in the group stage; this will be their 349th. Their record reads W194 D72 L82.

• Salzburg's coach Huub Stevens, once a defender for SC Fortuna Sittard and PSV Eindhoven, was capped 18 times by the Netherlands. His biggest achievements in management were winning the 1996/97 UEFA Cup and two German Cups with FC Schalke 04. He won an Austrian title last season in his first campaign as Salzburg boss.

• With two victories over Lazio last season as Salzburg coach and four meetings with FC Internazionale Milano during his time at Schalke, Stevens' record as a coach against Italian opposition reads W3 D1 L2 (W2 D1 L0 at home).

• Juventus coach Luigi Delneri represented the likes of Udinese Calcio and Sampdoria as a player, with the highlights of his long coaching career including marshalling AS Roma in the 2004/05 UEFA Champions League, leading US Città di Palermo to the 2005/06 UEFA Cup group stage and finishing fourth in Serie A with Sampdoria last season. He took over at Juve in the summer.
