Víctor Sánchez and Pintos join Getafe on loan

Getafe CF's new central midfielder Víctor Sánchez has high hopes for the Azulones after completing a season-long loan switch from Liga champions FC Barcelona.

The 22-year-old Terrassa-born player – who spent last season on loan at Xerez CD – said he was initially attracted by the prospect of joining the UEFA Europa League contenders following a conversation with coach Míchel. "I remember I spoke with him and he told me I would be coming to a good team and I'd be here to play," he explained before outlining his team's goals for the coming campaign. "We have to look to finish among the top five or six sides in the Liga."

Also joining on loan for the campaign is S.S. Lazio right-back Pablo Pintos. The 23-year-old Uruguayan only moved to the Serie A club in June from Argentina's CA San Lorenzo de Almagro, having started his career in his homeland with Defensor Sporting Club. Getafe begin their UEFA Europa League campaign with a home fixture against Odense BK on 16 September. VfB Stuttgart and BSC Young Boys will also be competing in Group H.
