SSC Napoli have strengthened their squad ahead of the UEFA Europa League play-off return against IF Elfsborg by recruiting striker Cristiano Lucarelli from AS Livorno Calcio.
No details of the fee or contract length have been revealed for the 34-year-old, who scored three times in six matches for Italy between June 2005 and October 2007. Much travelled before joining Livorno in 2003 from Torino FC, Lucarelli scored 104 times in 174 league appearances in two spells with his hometown club either side of stints at FC Shakhtar Donetsk and Parma FC. Napoli take a 1-0 lead into the second leg of their European tie in Sweden on Thursday.
