Celtic FC have made their eighth signing of the summer, Swedish international centre-back Daniel Majstorovic joining the UEFA Europa League contenders on a two-year deal.
Majstorovic completed his move on Monday to bring an end to a two-year stint at Greek Super League outfit AEK Athens FC. The 33-year-old joins the likes of Joe Ledley, Efraín Juárez, Daryl Murphy, Cha Du-Ri and Charlie Mulgrew in joining new manager Neil Lennon at Celtic Park.
"I spent two beautiful years in Greece with AEK and I'm glad I had the opportunity to play at such a great team," said Majstorovic, who lists FC Basel 1893, FC Twente and Malmö FF among his former clubs. "I want to thank everyone who worked there and the club for its support. Going to Celtic is a good move for me as they are a major European club."
However, Celtic have received a blow today with recently-signed striker Gary Hooper being ruled out for six weeks with a calf muscle tear. Celtic lost to SC Braga in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round and now face FC Utrecht in the UEFA Europa League play-offs, with the first leg in Glasgow on Thursday.
