UEFA Europa League play-off contenders US Città di Palermo have bolstered their defence with the signing of 19-year-old Ezequiel Muñoz from CA Boca Juniors for an undisclosed fee.

Argentinian teenage defender Ezequiel Muñoz has signed a five-year contract with UEFA Europa League contenders US Città di Palermo.

Muñoz, 19, moves to Serie A from CA Boca Juniors for an undisclosed fee and will link up with countrymen Javier Pastore, Santiago García and Nicolás Bertolo in Sicily. Palermo coach Delio Rossi was also dealt some bad news on Wednesday, however, with Dorin Goian ruled out for up to 40 days after sustaining knee and ankle injuries in training this week. The 29-year-old Romania defender will miss the UEFA Europa League play-offs and the start of the new Serie A campaign on 28/29 August. Palermo will discover their play-off opponents in Friday's draw in Nyon.
