Bayer 04 Leverkusen have strengthened their attacking options after completing the signing of promising Danish striker Nicolai Jørgensen for an undisclosed fee.
The 19-year-old arrives from second division AB Copenhagen, committing to the Werkself until summer 2015. "With Nicolai Jørgensen we now have the fourth striker that we were missing," said Leverkusen CEO Wolfgang Holzhäuser. "He comes to us highly rated and will definitely help us this coming season." Coach Jupp Heynckes backed up the praise, but was eager to avoid "promising too much too early" of the Danish Under-19 international.
Jørgensen is the fourth signing of the summer for Leverkusen, following Michael Ballack, Germany U21 midfielder Sidney Sam and Croatia U21 defender Domagoj Vida. Leverkusen finished fourth in the Bundesliga last term and will begin their UEFA Europa League campaign in August's play-offs. The draw takes place on 6 August.
