Former Argentinian international midfielder Ariel Ibagaza has ended a 12-season stay in Spain after leaving Villarreal CF for Olympiacos FC.
Ibagaza, 33, arrives in Greece on a free transfer and has signed a two-year contract. "I'm very happy to come to Olympiacos," he said. "I'm looking forward to meeting my new team-mates. I want to help Olympiacos reclaim the domestic title."
Ibagaza moved from Argentinian team CA Lanús to RCD Mallorca in 1998 and enjoyed two spells with the Balearic club either side of his three seasons at Club Atlético de Madrid. He joined Villarreal in 2008 and scored three goals in 54 Liga outings.
Olympiacos enter the UEFA Europa League in the second qualifying round on Thursday when they travel to Albania to take on KS Besa. The tie concludes in Piraeus a week later.
