UEFA Europa League second qualifying round contenders FC Karpaty Lviv have acquired Grigoriy and Borys Baranets from neighbours FC Lviv, with the twin brothers signing three-year contracts.

The move represents a homecoming for the 23-year-old midfielders who passed through the Karpaty academy before making their top-flight debuts in 2008/09 with FC Lviv. "We were raised at Karpaty so we were very excited when this opportunity arose," said Borys. "Now my brother and I are very happy because Karpaty finished fifth last season and will compete in Europe after a ten-year absence."

Karpaty will play the winners of the tie between KR Reykjavík and Glentoran FC in their second qualifying round opener next Thursday, after taking on FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk on Saturday in the first round of the Ukrainian Premier-Liha season. Karpaty have also signed goalkeeper Vitaly Rudenko and two Brazilians, midfielder Neno and defender Avelar.
