Bnei Yehuda Tel-Aviv FC have appointed Dror Kashtan in a move which will see the most decorated coach in Israeli history return to the domestic scene after four years in charge of the national team.
Kashtan, 64, enjoyed two successful stints with Hapoel Tel-Aviv FC from 1999-2004 and 2005-06, which included a memorable UEFA Cup quarter-final appearance in 2002. Kashtan led Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC to a league and cup double in 1995/96, and now joins Tel-Aviv's smallest top-flight club aiming to bring some success to a side that have not won a trophy since taking their only league title in 1989/90.
With six Israeli titles and six State Cups to his name as a coach, Kashtan will lead the Tangerines in their UEFA Europa League first qualifying round tie against Armenian side FC Ulisses. "It's the fourth time I will be starting a European campaign against an Armenian side," said Kashtan. "Armenian football is not a mystery to me, but we will still have to prepare ourselves."
