UEFA Europa League entrants Sporting Clube de Portugal have signed central defender Marco Torsiglieri from CA Vélez Sársfield in an undisclosed deal.
The 22-year-old Argentinian is in Lisbon today for a medical and is set to be presented this evening. The towering Torsiglieri made his debut for hometown club Vélez in 2006 and played 13 of their 19 matches in the Torneo Clausura which ended in May, the Buenos Aires outfit finishing ninth.
Also able to play at left-back, Torsiglieri becomes the fourth new face to join Paulo Sérgio's ranks, following the arrivals of Evaldo and Maniche, and the return from loan of André Santos. Sporting kick off their UEFA Europa League campaign in the third qualifying round at the end of July.
