UEFA Europa League contenders US Città di Palermo have signed striker Massimo Maccarone from relegated side AC Siena for an undisclosed fee.
The 30-year-old Maccarone, who scored 12 goals in 37 games during the 2009/10 Serie A campaign, has signed a three-year contract at Palermo with the option for a further season. The former Empoli FC, Middlesbrough FC and Parma FC forward is the second attacking addition the Sicilian side have made this summer, after ertswhile Chilean international striker Mauricio Pinilla joined from Serie B side US Grosseto FC last week. Palermo will join the UEFA Europa League in the play-offs after finishing fifth in Italy.
