US Città di Palermo have signed Chilean striker Mauricio Pinilla from Serie B side US Grosseto FC on a four-year contract. No details of any fee have been revealed.

The much-travelled 26-year-old, who has scored four times in 21 appearances for his nation, has played in seven different countries including his homeland where he began his career with CF Universidad de Chile.

He signed for FC Internazionale Milano in 2003, but spent the first half of the 2003/04 campaign on loan at AC Chievo Verona, before joining RC Celta de Vigo. The next five years were spent at six different clubs before he returned to Italy and Grosseto from Apollon Limassol FC at the start of last season.

He struck 24 goals in 24 Serie B appearances for Grosseto in 2009/10, by far his most productive season to date. Moving in the opposite direction, Grosseto have have taken Palermo's 19-year-old striker Marco Giovio on a year-long loan. Palermo, who also signed midfielder Pajtim Kasami on Monday, have qualified for the UEFA Europa League play-offs after finishing fifth in Serie A last season.
