PSV Eindhoven have signed Jeremain Lens from AZ Alkmaar, the forward joining on a five-year contract less than a week after his omission from the Netherlands' final 23-man FIFA World Cup squad.
Lens, who was one of four players shorn from Bert van Marwijk's party for South Africa, made his AZ debut in 2005 and was loaned out to NEC Nijmegen in the 2007/08 campaign. The 22-year-old has scored 22 goals in 86 Eredivisie matches and helped AZ to the 2008/09 title.
"My transfer to PSV makes up for the disappointment that I was not allowed to go to the World Cup," Lens said. "I am extremely happy with this. I really look forward to starting in Eindhoven and hope I can develop further here. PSV will keep on battling for the title and I want to play my part in that with my goals, assists and also off the pitch."
PSV finished third in this season's Eredivisie and will therefore line up in the UEFA Europa League play-offs next term.
