Title winner
The left-back, capped 21 times by Belgium, played with the UEFA Europa League hopefuls between 2000 and 2005 after originally joining from FC Eendracht Aalst, winning two championships and two Belgian Cups. A veteran of two UEFA Champions League group-stage campaigns and the 2002 FIFA World Cup, Van der Heyden left Brugge to join VfL Wolfsburg before moving on to fellow Bundesliga outfit Mainz in 2008. Brugge host Valencia CF in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League round of 32 tie on 18 February.
