CD Nacional will conclude their maiden group-stage campaign by playing a UEFA Europa League tie against FK Austria Wien, with both sides already resigned to finishing in the bottom two in Group L.

• Possessing two points each after five games, the two teams have no chance of catching Athletic Club, currently in second. Whoever wins will finish third in the section, while Nacional would take third spot with a 0-0 or 1-1 draw and Austria Wien would do so with any higher-scoring tie.

Previous meetings
• The sides drew 1-1 in Vienna in their first meeting on Matchday 2, in what was Nacional's first game against an Austrian side. Austria Wien have lost all three of their previous games in Portugal.

Match background
• Austria Wien reached the quarter-finals following a successful first appearance in the UEFA Cup group stage in 2004/05 but they missed the cut in 2006/07 and 2007/08.

• Nacional have won just one of their five UEFA club competition home fixtures to date, beating FC Zenit St. Petersburg 4-3 in this season's UEFA Europa League play-offs. Their other four home ties netted them a draw and three defeats.

• Austria Wien's last European away win was a 2-1 UEFA Cup second qualifying round success against Slovakian side MŠK Žilina on 11 August 2005. They have not won in 15 subsequent ties on their travels, losing both of their Group L games without scoring.

• Nacional are making their debut in the group stage of a UEFA club competition. Their two previous European campaigns ended with first-round losses in the 2004/05 and 2006/07 UEFA Cups.

Team facts
• Visiting boss Karl Daxbacher won six caps as a midfielder for Austria in a playing career during which he spent 14 years at the club he now serves as coach. He returned to take the reins in 2008, following a spell in charge at LASK Linz.

• His counterpart Manuel Machado is in his second stint at the Nacional helm. He started his coaching career in his native Guimaraes as a youth trainer at Vitória SC, eventually leading the senior team there as well as having spells at A. Académica de Coimbra and SC Braga.

• With Machado in poor health, his assistant José Augusto took charge for the 4-1 loss to Werder Bremen on Matchday 5, with former midfielder Predrag Jokanović charged with leading the club for the remainder of the year. The 41-year-old Serbian played for all three big Madeira teams - CF União, CS Marítimo and Nacional - and coached Nacional from 2006-08. He said: "This is just a temporary appointment. Manuel Machado is Nacional coach and I hope he gets better soon."

• From the Atlantic island of Madeira, Nacional's most significant recent claim to fame has been that Funchal-born Cristiano Ronaldo spent two years with the club before joining Sporting Clube de Portugal's Alcochete academy at the age of 12 in 1997.

• Nacional's 4-1 Matchday 5 loss at Werder Bremen was their heaviest defeat in UEFA club competition.

• Austria Wien's 3-0 Matchday 5 loss against Athletic matched their heaviest margin of defeat in a UEFA Cup or UEFA Europa League home game.
