PFC CSKA Sofia are already destined to finish bottom of UEFA Europa League Group E, but AS Roma will look to cement their position at the top of the section having secured their last-32 place on Matchday 5.

• A win will guarantee Roma first place and a seeded draw for the round of 32. In the event of sides finishing level on points, FC Basel 1893 would finish above Roma on head-to-head, but Fulham FC would not.

Previous meetings
• Roma won 2-0 as the sides met for a third time on Matchday 2. The Italian club have won all three of their games against CSKA without conceding.

• Nils Liedholm's Roma recorded 1-0 home and away wins against Apostol Chachevski's CSKA in the teams' only previous tie which came in the 1983/84 European Champion Clubs' Cup second round.

• The teams for their match in Sofia on 19 October 1983 were:
CSKA: Velinov, Iliev (Bezinski, 45), Bogomilov (Slavkov, 62), Tintchev, Georgi Dimitrov, Djevizov, Ionchev, Kerimov, Zdravkov, Tanev, Lachezar.
Roma:
Tancredi, Nela, Bonetti, Righetti, Falcão, Maldera, Ancelotti, Cerezo, Pruzzo, Di Bartolomei, Conti (Graziani, 80).

Match background
• Roma and CSKA only appeared in the UEFA Cup group stage once, both in 2005/06. While Roma progressed to the round of 16, CSKA missed the cut.

• CSKA have not won in three home games since a 1-0 win against Derry City FC in the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round. Matchday 3's 2-0 loss to Basel ended a nine-game unbeaten run at home for the Army Men.

• Roma have not won a European away game in three attempts since thrashing KAA Gent 7-1 in this season's UEFA Europa League third qualifying round.

Team facts
• Luciano Spalletti quit as Roma coach after starting the Serie A season with back-to-back defeats and Claudio Ranieri was installed as his successor. The 57-year-old started his playing career as a defender at Roma – his hometown club – but earned his reputation as a coach with ACF Fiorentina, Valencia CF, Chelsea FC and Juventus, among others.

• CSKA are coached by Luboslav Penev, who replaced his uncle – iconic former Bulgaria coach Dimitar Penev – in February. The 43-year-old, who played up front alongside Hristo Stoichkov at CSKA and represented both Valencia CF and Club Atlético de Madrid, resigned in the wake of the 3-1 Matchday 4 loss to Basel. However, following an emergency meeting with the club's owners, he decided to return saying that he hopes "the recent stormy events at the club will make us stronger".

• Both coaches have strong links with Valencia. Ranieri coached the club in two spells (1997-99 and 2004-05) while Penev scored 101 league goals in 226 games for Los Blanquinegros between 1989 and 1995. Ranieri also coached Atlético (1999-00), Penev's club from 1995 to 1996.

• This will be Roma's 200th game in UEFA club competition, with their previous 199 fixtures netting them 96 wins, 43 draws and 60 defeats; they have scored 292 goals in that time and conceded 192.
