FC Salzburg could be without Marc Janko for Thursday's UEFA Europa League Group G match against PFC Levski Sofia after the prolific Austria striker picked up a thigh injury at the weekend.
Injury doubts
The 26-year-old forward, who was top scorer in the Austrian Bundesliga last season with 39 goals in 34 matches, is still suffering from a muscular problem in his right thigh which prevented him from finishing Saturday's 1-0 defeat by FK Austria Wien. Janko, who has scored eight times in eleven league matches this season, is not the only doubt for the home side as midfielder Nikola Pokrivač has a bout of flu.
Learning lessons
The good news for the hosts is that full-back Rabiu Afolabi has just recovered from a similar illness and is available for selection. Salzburg coach Huub Stevens expects his side to learn the lessons from their weekend setback when they face their Bulgarian opponents, saying: "We have analysed the game at Austria in depth and talked about the mistakes we made there. I hope the players will bear that in mind on Thursday and react accordingly. Levski haven't been playing in Europe for many years for no reason, they are a technically gifted team."
