Brazilian striker Schumacher came off the bench to earn FK Austria Wien a Group L draw with CD Nacional at the Franz Horr Stadium.

Taking chances
Austria captain Milenko Ačimovič missed a ninth-minute penalty and his side paid the price before half-time when Rúben Micael curled home from outside the area. It looked enough for the win until Schumacher levelled with 14 minutes remaining to ensure both sides earn their first point.

Penalty chance
With the teams having started with a defeat two weeks ago, Austria going down 3-0 to Athletic Club Bilbao and Nacional losing 3-2 to Werder Bremen, this was never going to be a cagey affair. The home side underlined the point as they earned a penalty after Cleber tugged down Czech striker Tomáš Jun, though Ačimovič's weak spot-kick was easily gathered by Rafael Bracali. Austria then nearly suffered a double setback as Nacional went straight up the other end and striker Mateus forced a desperate block by Szabolcs Sáfár from close range.

Rúben strikes
Further chances followed, with Sáfár stopping a Mateus shot on the break and Austria's Mamadou Diabang heading wide before Rúben broke the deadlock. Picking up the ball more than 30 metres out, the Nacional playmaker pushed forward unchallenged before unleashing a dipping shot that clipped the underside of the bar on its way in.

Schumacher equaliser
Ačimovič led Austria's search for an equaliser after the restart but his free-kick and a shot both flew wide, while Edgar had no better luck at the other end for Nacional before Schumacher brought the hosts level. The substitute collected the ball on the edge of the area, skipped round a defender and drove in a shot which Bracali got a hand to but could not keep out.
