Cruz leaves Inter for Lazio

S.S. Lazio have signed former Argentinian international striker Julio Cruz on a free transfer from FC Internazionale Milano, the 34-year-old agreeing a 12-month deal with the option for a further season.

S.S. Lazio have signed former Argentina striker Julio Cruz on a free transfer from FC Internazionale Milano.

One-year contract
Cruz, 34, has signed a one-year contract with an option for a further season with his new club and could make his Lazio debut on Saturday week against Inter as the Coppa Italia holders face the Nerazzurri for the Italian Super Cup in Beijing. The former CA Banfield and Feyenoord striker arrived in Italy in 2000 and after three seasons with Bologna FC he joined Inter in 2003. Despite often being a second choice in attack, Cruz scored 49 goals in six Serie A seasons in Milan, helping Inter to win the last four Scudetti. Lazio discover their UEFA Europa League play-off round opponents next Friday and will play them on 20 and 27 August.
