Polish striker Artur Wichniarek has returned for a second spell at Hertha BSC Berlin after leaving relegated DSC Arminia Bielefeld, signing a two-year contract with his old club.
Second chance
The 32-year-old joined Hertha from Arminia for a first time in summer 2003, but scored just four goals in 44 league games before returning to his previous club in January 2006. The former Lech Pozńan and RTS Widzew Łódź player, who has netted on four occasions in 17 appearances for Poland, will give Hertha striking options as they look ahead to competing in the UEFA Europa League play-offs. Hertha finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season, but have lost their two top marksmen since, with Andriy Voronin returing to Liverpool FC following his loan spell and Marko Pantelić leaving as a free agent.
