AC Milan have confirmed that Gennaro Gattuso will be out of action for the next six months following surgery on his right knee on Monday.
Operation successful
The 30-year-old Italy international midfielder sustained the injury during his side's 1-0 victory against Catania Calcio on 7 December and will miss the rest of the season. "Rino Gattuso was operated on today in Antwerp by Dr Martens's medical staff," a statement on the club's website read. "They have reconstructed the ligaments in his right knee and the operation went well. The prognosis is around six months." AC Milan play VfL Wolfsburg in their final Group E game in the UEFA Cup on Wednesday. Both sides are already safely through to the Round of 32.
