Quick-finishing Racing rein in PSG

Real Racing Club revived their flagging UEFA Cup ambitions as the Spanish side recovered from 2-0 down to earn a share of the Group A spoils away to Paris Saint-Germain FC.

Pivotal moment
Having picked up a solitary point from their opening two games, Racing were staring at the exit door as they conceded twice in the opening 32 minutes. Mateja Kežman and Péguy Luyindula were on target for PSG, but when Sammy Traoré put through his own net with half-time approaching the hosts lost their composure. Within ten minutes of the restart it was all-square, a sublime long-range effort from Gonzalo Colsa spearing in to breathe life into Racing's faltering campaign.

Lacen disappointment
The result leaves PSG bottom of the section after two games with a tough trip to Manchester City FC next up, a far cry from how things had looked for much of the first half. Given a rare start by Paul Le Guen, Kežman wasted little time in making his mark. With five minutes gone Luyindula dispossessed Paris-born midfielder Mehdj Lacen outside the area and the ball fell kindly for the Serbian striker to curl into the top corner.

Comeback
After Kežman had skied a presentable opportunity, Luyindula doubled PSG's advantage, guiding the ball in after Jérôme Rothen had sprung the offside trap. The visitors were stunned, but revived hopes before half-time when Traoré headed Pedro Munitis's free-kick into his own net. The stage was then set for Colsa, whose 25-metre effort deserved to decide the outcome of any game. And so it did, Racing's Jonathan Pereira and PSV strikers Kežman and Luyindula failing to convert decent opportunities.
