FC Twente host FC Schalke 04 on UEFA Cup Matchday 4 with both sides knowing that a win in Enschede would see them through to the last 32 of the competition, as Fred Rutten returns to face his old club.
• Manchester City FC confirmed their place in the Round of 32 with a 2-0 win at Schalke on Matchday 3, while Twente were not in action.
• This is Schalke's last UEFA Cup group-stage match of the season, while Twente will play Paris Saint-Germain FC at Parc des Princes on Matchday 5 in their final encounter.
• This is Twente and Schalke's first meeting in UEFA club competition.
• Twente have played ten games against German clubs, but have yet to beat a Bundesliga side. Their record reads W0 D4 L6. Their home matches against German teams have ended in two draws and three defeats, though they have scored at least once in all of those fixtures.
• Schalke have played five UEFA club competition games against Dutch sides, with their record reading W2 D1 L2. Three of those games were in the Netherlands, the draw and the two defeats, so they come to Enschede looking for a first win on Dutch soil.

• Schalke coach Fred Rutten knows all about Twente. • The draw for the UEFA Cup Round of 32 and Round of 16 will be held at UEFA Headquarters in Nyon on Friday 19 December at 13.00CET. Group winners will be paired with third-placed sides from other UEFA Cup sections, while second-placed finishers will be drawn against one of the eight clubs who finished third in the UEFA Champions League groups. The UEFA Cup group winners and runners-up will play the second leg at home. Teams from the same association cannot be drawn against each other.
